Dow Corning establishes new venture in China to expand silicone rubber manufacturing, product offerings

In a move to expand its rubber manufacturing capability and product offerings to customers in Asia and around the world, Dow Corning Corporation and Dow Corning Toray Silicone Co. Ltd. (DCTS) have formed a new company, Ling Dao Silicone (Shanghai) Co., Ltd, to utilize the strong technology and capability in the rubber industry from DCTS and operates a new manufacturing facility in the Min Hang District of Shanghai.

DCTS is a joint venture in Japan between Dow Corning and Toray Industries since 1966.

The new venture, operational in March this year, enables Dow Corning customers of the rubber industry in Asia, primarily from China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Korea and India, to take advantage of the broader product range, speedier and more flexible supply, more responsive service and competitive prices.

Ling Dao Silicone will be under the leadership of Ji-shan Lin, Dow Corning's Commercial Manager for Rubber Fabrication Industry, Greater China. "We believe the new company is a step further in our strive to bring more customer-focused solutions to the market place, the benefits to our customers and those who have yet used our products are substantial," said Mr. Lin.

The expanded product range will also add velocity to Dow Corning's total offerings to customers and increase their competitiveness in areas of keypads, general silicone rubber molding, wire & cable, flame retardant rubber, high voltage insulator rubber and oil resistant rubbers.
