Bayer Chemicals: A new plasticizer joins the polymer additive range
Bayer Chemicals, has added a new polymeric plasticizer to its polymer additive range. The innovative trial product Ultramoll® VP SP 51022 was developed for the rubber-processing industry, for use in applications such as the manufacture of NBR-based printing rollers. The plasticizer helps to produce highly flexible rubber articles - with no significant risk of blooming.
Ultramoll® VP SP 51022 can also be used in the PVC processing industry. Possible applications are tarpaulins, floorings, furniture / self-adhesive / electrical insulating films and injection moldings for industrial applications. Because of its good electrical properties combined with its good thermal stability, the new plasticizer can also be used to make cable sheathing and flexible cords.
Ultramoll® VP SP 51022 is a low-viscosity polymeric plasticizer based on phthalic acid which is characterized by good migration resistance. Moldings can be produced in a wide range of hardnesses and elasticities by adjusting the proportion of plasticizer used.
The new product complements Ultramoll® PP with optimized saponification resistance. It is particularly useful in articles such as PVC tarpaulins or hose which come into contact with water or alkaline media and oils and greases.
