Great Lakes Chemical Names Newly Elected Corporate Officers

Great Lakes Chemical Corporation announced that Jeffrey Potrzebowski and Maurizio Butti have been promoted to officers of the corporation.

Jeffrey Potrzebowski, vice president of investor relations and financial analysis, was promoted to corporate officer. Mr. Potrzebowski has served in his current role where he oversees investor relations and all aspects of the company's forecasting, planning, and financial analysis since 2001. Mr. Potrzebowski joined Great Lakes in 1993 as director of internal audit and was named director of investor relations in 1996. He is based at the company's world headquarters in Indianapolis.

Great Lakes Chairman and CEO Mark P. Bulriss stated, "Jeff Potrzebowski is an integral part of the leadership of Great Lakes. His insight and knowledge of our businesses is an invaluable resource to our shareholders, to our Board of Directors, to me, and to all our business leaders. Under Jeff's leadership we will remain focused on our most important goal of delivering superior shareholder value."

From 1990 to 1993, Mr. Potrzebowski worked at Stewart-Warner Corporation, a subsidiary of BTR, Inc., as group controller. He worked several years at USG Corporation and over 10 years at Price Waterhouse, an international accounting and auditing firm.

Maurizio Butti was promoted to executive vice president and general manager of polymer stabilizers and also elected as a corporate officer. Mr. Butti replaces Henri Steinmetz who left Great Lakes in April 2004 to become president of the metal coatings division of Sulzer, Incorporated. Mr. Butti will be based in Frauenfeld, Switzerland, where the Great Lakes Polymer Stabilizers business is headquartered.
