BASF starts up amino resins plant in Shanghai,
The plant reinforces BASF's commitment to long-term growth in the amino resins markets in China and the Asia Pacific region. "With this production facility we are now much closer to our customers, which allows us to serve our customers with additional flexibility, advanced technology, speed and increased delivery reliability. We are in a better position to 'help our customers to be more successful'," said Dr. Reinhard Leppkes, Group Vice President, Performance Chemicals for Coatings, Plastics and Specialties.
BASF's amino resins are marketed under the trademark Luwipal®. Applications are in baking finishes, acid-curable paints and physically drying paints. They are mainly used in combination with various binders to produce particularly hard, glossy coatings that are stable to weathering, yellowing and chemicals. Luwipal® 066 is mainly used in coil and can coatings and Luwipal® 072 is mostly for automotive applications.
