Arkema doubles the production capacity of the Shanghai Hydrogen Peroxide plant

27-Mar-2006

Arkema announced the expansion to almost 80,000 metric tons per year of the production capacity at the Wujing plant (Shanghai).

"This investment represents another step forward in China for Arkema, and will allow to meet the growing demand from its customers in Asia", explains Marie-Pierre Chevallier, Group President of Arkema's Hydrogen Peroxide Business Unit.

"Our presence in China, through a joint venture with Shanghai Coking created in 2000, Arkema Shanghai Hydrogen Peroxide (ASHP) held 66.6% by Arkema and 33.3% by Shanghai Coking, celebrating its 10th Anniversary in 2006, will be consolidated by this strategic expansion. This project targets market segments which owe their strong development to China's growing demand for industrial and consumer goods. This investment will also allow us to offer our customers in China our entire product range, including our specialty grades."

Following the announcement, in July 2005, of the expansion of its North American production capacity (+20,000 metric tons/year), the doubling of the Shanghai plant in China will increase Arkema's overall production capacity to 385,000 metric tons/year by early 2008.
