Makhteshim Agan announced that one of its wholly-owned overseas subsidiaries has acquired 30% of the American company Alligare, LLC. The parties agreed not to disclose further details regarding the transaction.

Alligare specializes in the development, marketing and sale of herbicides for the non-crop weed control market, with a particular emphasis on products for forestry, range and pasture, aquatic, and vegetation management applications. Sales in 2005 were close to $20 million.

Alligare will continue to distribute herbicides into the non-crop weed control market for numerous leading agrochemical companies in addition to selling and supporting Makhteshim Agan's extensive herbicide product line.
