Akzo Nobel inaugurated the new extension of the Örnsköldsvik plant. "With industry growth rates showing an upward trend, this increase in capacity will ensure that we can continue to offer top class products and services to customers all over the world", says Mario Houde, General Manager of Akzo Nobel's Cellulosic Specialties business.
The Swedish site is Akzo Nobel's primary location for the production of Bermocoll®. The product - which is produced in a number of different viscosity grades - is used as an environmentally-friendly thickener, stabilizer and water retention agent to help improve the properties of water-based paints and building products, such as cement and gypsum.
"The new production facility will help us serve our customers needs by increasing production capacity with 25 %", says Mario Houde. "However, with increasing industry demand we must soon start thinking of how we might further grow our production capacity, if we want to maintain the excellent growth momentum of our Bermocoll business", Houde added.
