31-Aug-2007
DuPont Engineering Polymers has completed an expansion of compounding capacity for its range of Zytel® nylon 6 and 66 resins at the manufacturing site of DuPont in Ulsan, Korea. This expansion adds 20k tons per year of new capacity and is in response to rapid growth in demand for reinforced nylon resins in the region, especially from the Automotive industry. "Continuing to invest in the regions with the highest market growth is a key strategy for our business", said Dr. Richard Mayo, Global Business Director for Zytel® nylon resins and Crastin® PBT resins, DuPont Engineering Polymers. "This new capacity in Korea will enable us to respond quickly to customers needs and ensure the supply of high quality products required to meet the rapidly increasing demand in the Asia Pacific region. We are committed to a program of investment to support the growth of our global customers and at the same time reinforce our position as the leading supplier of nylon Engineering Plastics" Dr. Mayo continued. In recent years, DuPont Engineering Polymers has made several investments in the region. These included plans to build a new polymer plant to produce DuPont(TM) Zytel® HTN high performance polyamide and DuPont Vespel® parts and shapes in Singapore. Together with the investment in the DuPont Research and Development Center in Shanghai, China and DuPont Automotive Center in Nagoya, Japan, these illustrate the confidence and continuous commitment of DuPont Engineering Polymers to the Asia Pacific marketplace.
