Special Materials Company starts new Phosphines Unit

Special Materials Company (SMC) reports the successful startup of its new commercial scale alkyl phosphines unit at its Changshu New Tech JV factory in Changshu, Jiangsu Province China. SMC's investment in the specialized APT (Advanced Phosphine Technology) shall bring a new reliable supply of alkyl phosphines to the fields of metal extraction, catalyst, electronic materials, and pharmaceutical intermediates.
According to Mark Silver, President of SMC, "we believe that our APT production will promote the usage of what have been relatively difficult to procure reagents, and allow new applications to develop based on the scale and economics of our new process."
In addition to the new Alkyl Phosphines unit; the Changshu New Tech site produces ~ 12,000 M/T per year of sodium hypophosphite, hypophosphorous acid and salts, and phosphonium salts.
