Thermo Nicolet Joins the SiLKnet Alliance

23-Jul-2002

MADISON, Wis. and SAN FRANCISCO. Calif. (July 22, 2002) - Thermo Nicolet, a Thermo Electron spectroscopy business, has joined the SiLKnet Alliancesm, helping to speed development of measurement techniques for characterizing SiLK film and porous SiLK film properties using their FT-IR and Raman analysis tools. Launched last year, the SiLKnet Alliance is the first and broadest Low-K collaboration of its kind. Its goal is to develop fab-ready processes and products that support The Dow Chemical Company family of SiLK semiconductor dielectric resins and complementary Ensemble ES spin-on etch stop films. SiLKnet Alliance members work in parallel to develop a variety of compatible SiLK processes, products, and related technologies for IDM and foundry customers.

"Each new member brings specific process knowledge that will strengthen and expand the SiLKnet Alliance's interconnect module development program," said Greg Bauer, SiLKnet Alliance development director. Current Alliance members include Arch Chemicals Inc., Ashland Specialty Chemical Company, ATMI MLS Photo/Etch Solutions, Axcelis Technologies, Dainippon Screen Mfg. Co. Ltd., The Dow Chemical Company, EKC Technology Inc., Ferro Corp., General Chemical Corp., Planar Solutions LLC, SEZ Group, Supercritical Systems Inc., Tokyo Electron Limited, and Verteq Inc.

Thermo Nicolet is the design and production leader of FT-IR and Raman analytical instruments. The ECO® series FT-IR metrology tools are used for characterizing interlayer dielectric (ILD) films and other materials used in semiconductor device manufacturing, and are compatible with today's modern, automated production fabs.
