Davy Process Technology Limited (DPT), a Johnson Matthey company, and The Dow Chemical Company’s (Dow) Oxygenated Solvents business, announced that YanKuang Cathay Acetyl Chemical Company (YKCC) in Shandong, China, has selected LP OxoSM SELECTORSM 10 Technology for its new facility in Mushi Town, Tengzhou City, Shandong Province, People’s Republic of China. YKCC is currently building butyl acetate capacity, and is now driven to become vertically integrated from butyl acetate back to primary raw materials, in this case coal. With this license, YKCC will build a new 150 kta butanols plant with capacity of 136 kta of normal butanol, most of which will be used for the internal production of butyl acetate. This is the twelfth LP OxoSM license to be granted in China.

“We are pleased to add YKCC to our expanding family of LP Oxo Technology licensees in China, and we are confident that YKCC’s drive will enable them to move quickly toward start-up and a very successful long-term operation,” stated Bruce Lipsitt, LP Oxo Licensing Business Director.
