Oxford Chemicals and Celanese Chemicals Establish Connection via Elemica Network

20-Dec-2002

Oxford Chemicals Limited, based in Hartlepool, part of the Yule Catto Group of Companies, has established the first direct connection with the chemical leading enterprise, Celanese Chemicals, via e-business network, Elemica.

According to Dr. Richard Smith, Managing Director, Oxford Chemicals: "As part of a wider e-business project through our parent company - the Yule Catto Group - we implemented the connectivity interface to our SAP ERP system via the Elemica Network on schedule in December 2002 after our sister company, Synthomer went live earlier in the year. Elemica provides another tool to enable us to become closer and more e-connected to our customers and suppliers"

Through the connection to Elemica, purchase orders generated by the SAP system of Oxford can be taken directly into the SAP system of Celanese via an XML- file. This connection enables the automatic processing of order create, order response and order change messages in the SAP systems of both trading partners. As a customer, Oxford Chemicals uses transactions via Elemica to establish contact with its suppliers. Additional suppliers have voiced their interest to be connected to Oxford Chemicals via Elemica once this project has been running successfully.

Dietmar Tietzmann, e-Business Manager at Celanese Chemicals Europe, adds: "With being very active on the Elemica network for over a year and a half now, we're very interested not only in connecting the big investors of Elemica but also transacting with all our business partners. In this respect the connection to Oxford Chemicals proves that Elemica solutions are economic, not only for large but also fo r medium sized enterprises."
