Bayer Polymers and PolyOne form Joint Venture

Polyurethanes systems house in North America brings Bayer Polymers even closer to its customers

Bayer Polymers LLC and the PolyOne Corporation have formed a Joint Venture for the development, production and marketing of polyurethane systems in the USA and Canada. Each company will own 50 percent of the new joint venture, which will be known as BayOne Urethane Systems LLC. The joint venture will employ approximately 50 employees and is scheduled to become operational in June 2003. It will be headquartered in St. Louis, Missouri.

Systems houses provide ready-to-use, pre-formulated polyurethane raw materials systems - isocyanates and polyol blends - which are used in industry for specific, custom-formulated specialty applications, notably in the automotive and construction industries, in the thermal insulation of refrigerating appliances and in the furnishings and footwear industries. Our local presence will enable us to supply our country and client-specific solutions rapidly and will considerably enhance customer loyalty. The Bayer sites that are to be involved in the joint venture include the research and development facilities and sales offices of the Bayer Corporation in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, the production and laboratory facilities in New Martinsville, West Virginia and the research and technical services facilities in Dalton, Georgia.

PolyOne's sites in St. Louis (headquarters of the joint venture, production and laboratory facilities), Commerce, California and Sussex, Wisconsin (production and laboratory facilities) and Kennesaw, Georgia (laboratory facilities and technical services) will also be involved in the joint venture.
