Senomyx, Inc. Announces the Appointment of Kent Snyder to the Position Of President and Chief Executive Officer

Senomyx, Inc. announced today that Kent Snyder has joined the Company as President and Chief Executive Officer. Mr. Snyder will also serve as a member of the Company's Board of Directors. Mr. Snyder has over 20 years of management experience in the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries with Hoffmann-La Roche Inc., Marion Merrell Dow, Inc., and most recently Agouron Pharmaceuticals, Inc. He brings to Senomyx significant expertise and experience in all aspects of commercial operations, including strategic planning, business development, and sales and marketing.

His experience base will be a tremendous asset to Senomyx as the Company continues to grow," said Mark Leschly, Chairman of the Senomyx Board of Directors. "In addition, Kent's track record of establishing partnerships and launching successful products will be invaluable to Senomyx."

Previously, Mr. Snyder held various executive positions in business development and commercial operations with Agouron Pharmaceuticals, Inc., including most recently, President of Global Commercial Operations. While at Agouron, Mr. Snyder was instrumental in the establishment of its commercial operations and the successful market launch of Viracept(R), an HIV protease inhibitor, which became one of the most important drugs for the treatment of HIV and the most widely prescribed drug in its class.

Prior to joining Agouron, Mr. Snyder held various management positions at Hoffmann-La Roche Inc. and Marion Merrell Dow, Inc. (formerly Marion Laboratories) in sales, marketing and business development. He received his BS degree from the University of Kansas, and his Master of Business Administration from Rockhurst College.
