Shortages of BASF polystyrene likely

30-Apr-2001

BASF is about to complete a series of comprehensive measures (mainly involving the restructuring of production and the product range) aimed at improving competitiveness and strengthening its long-term position in the European polystyrene market.

Plant optimization work scheduled for the coming weeks will mean a temporary reduction in polystyrene production capacity of up to 20 percent. This is likely to result in supply shortages during this period.
