Phenolchemie Announces Equity Participation in Envera

17-Nov-2000
ATLANTA, GA (November 16, 2000)--Phenolchemie announced today that it is making an equity investment in Envera, the global electronic-marketplace for B2B transactions and services. Envera's B4B (Business-for-Business) platform will enable Phenolchemie to connect to its customers and suppliers by integrating its SAP R/3 system with the Envera network. With established standards for XML (extensible mark-up language) documents, Envera's transparent data exchange network will help Phenolchemie and its business partners improve the flow of communication and reduce costs throughout the supply chain. Envera is a new component in Phenolchemie's global e-commerce strategy, which began in early 1998. In that time, Phenolchemie has developed a fully functional website with robust e-commerce functionality. Currently, the site offers customers the ability to track shipments, place orders and obtain certificates of analysis, material safety data sheets, product specifications and rail car outage tables. Phenolchemie's new partnership with Envera is simply the next logical step in Phenolchemie's quest to use e-commerce to improve its relationship with customers and suppliers. "Phenolchemie is clearly the leader in the global phenol and acetone market", says Rich Chvala, Envera's Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer. "We are excited by Phenolchemie's decision to join our network and we are looking forward to bringing efficiency and added value to Phenolchemie and its supply-chain partners. We welcome our newest member." Dr. Peter Bickert, President of Phenolchemie Inc, believes the partnership with Envera will improve Phenolchemie's relationship with customers and suppliers, as well as reduce transaction costs. "We continuously strive to improve service in every aspect of our business to create value for our customers," said Bickert. "Envera provides us with the ability to improve the services we offer our customers and reduce costs throughout the supply chain." Phenolchemie intends to integrate its SAP R/3 system with the Envera network by the end of Q4 2000 and begin conducting transactions shortly thereafter. With the start-up of its first North American plant in Mobile, Alabama, Phenolchemie continues its leadership in the phenol and acetone industry. Its partnership with Envera is just the latest in a series of investments Phenolchemie has made to improve its service to its customers. As the world's largest producer of phenol and acetone, Phenolchemie is leveraging e-commerce solutions to create value for its customers and as a pathway to supply chain excellence.
