Ashland To Distribute Borealis Polypropylene In Spain and Portugal

07-Apr-2004

Ashland Plastics Europe, a business unit of Ashland Distribution Company, has been named distributor for Borealis engineering grade polypropylene thermoplastic resins in Spain and Portugal.

Borealis extended its current distribution agreement with Ashland to include polypropylene for small- and medium-sized automotive and household appliance molders.

Ashland and Borealis established their distribution partnership in 1997 when Ashland began to provide local sales and service of Borealis-produced polyethylene and polypropylene thermoplastics to small- and medium-sized plastic processors in Western Europe.

"The expansion of Ashland's relationship with a key supplier such as Borealis allows us to enhance our product offering and better serve our customers," said Stephen P. Fazakas, vice president, International, Ashland Distribution Company.

According to Walter Baumann, Vice President of Borealis' Business Unit Engineering Applications, "The rapid expansion and global growth of customers in the automotive and household appliance industry emphasizes the need to focus Borealis' sales force on market development projects to optimize support for original equipment manufacturers and system suppliers. Customer-tailored engineering polypropylene products have been the key success factor in Borealis' strong acceptance in many markets."
