Millipore Launches Major Expansion of Life Sciences Facility in Danvers

06-Aug-2001

Millipore Corporation broke ground today on a major addition to its facility in Danvers, Mass. - headquarters for its Life Sciences Division. Nearly 200 people attended the event, including employees, project contractors and city officials.

The expansion will add 45,000 square feet of space to the site's current 66,000 square feet, located at 17 Cherry Hill Drive in Danvers. The new space will include laboratories, offices (for sales, marketing and technical service), training facilities, a warehouse and a cafeteria. Construction is slated for completion in mid-2002.

"This addition will enable us to meet rapidly growing demand for our life science products and technologies, and to better serve our customers around the world," said Bill Emhiser, President of Millipore's Life Sciences Division. "It will also enable us to keep pace with our internal growth. As our business expands, we need additional people to carry out our aggressive plans, and this expansion will provide the physical space needed to house these employees.

"As we develop new products, we must continue to increase our applications work, and the additional laboratory space will allow us to do this," Emhiser continued.

"In addition, as new products fill our pipeline, they need to go through pilot manufacturing to be translated into high-volume manufacturing processes for our plants around the world. This expansion gives us the environment and space we need for this pilot manufacturing."
