Daniel S. Sanders elected to Arch Chemicals Board of Directors

Daniel S. Sanders, President of ExxonMobil Chemical Company of Houston, Texas, has been elected to Arch Chemicals' Board of Directors, effective immediately.

A chemical industry veteran with extensive international experience, Mr. Sanders recently served as Chairman of the Board of the American Chemistry Council (ACC) and is also a past Chairman of the Society of Chemical Industry, American Section. Mr. Sanders played a key role in 2002 in championing the adoption by the ACC of a formal security code that requires all member companies to take measures to enhance both their physical and cyber security.

A graduate of the University of South Carolina with a degree in mechanical engineering, Mr. Sanders joined Exxon Corporation as an engineer at its Baton Rouge, Louisiana, refinery. He later held positions of increasing responsibility with Exxon's chemical business, including planning manager, vice president of the olefins business both in the U.S. and worldwide, executive vice president of Exxon Chemical Americas, and president of Exxon Chemical Asia Pacific.

In 1988, Mr. Sanders became executive assistant to the chairman and president of Exxon Corporation, and in 1990 he was appointed senior vice president of Exxon Company, U.S.A. In 1992 he became worldwide president of the Basic Chemicals Group of Exxon Chemical, and in 1994 he was named vice president of human resources for Exxon Corporation. He was named executive vice president of Exxon Chemical in 1998 and president in January 1999. He was appointed to his current position of president of ExxonMobil Chemical Company in December of 1999 when the two companies merged.

Mr. Sanders is a member of the Council of Overseers of the Jesse H. Jones Graduate School of Management at Rice University. He also serves on the Advisory Board of the University of South Carolina and Furman University and the Board of Governors of the Houston Grand Opera. He is also on the Board of Directors of Milliken & Company.
