National Adhesives Forms Alliance with Minority-Owned Business

21-Apr-2005

National adhesives and Corrugated Adhesives International (CAI), a Minority-owned Business Enterprise (MBE), have formed a strategic alliance to provide a complete line of products, adhesives and in-plant services to corrugating businesses throughout the United States.

"The partnership was formed in response to the corrugated market's request for increased diversity with its vendors", said Jeffrey Kolpa, marketing manager for corrugating adhesives at National Adhesives, a unit of National Starch and Chemical Company. "While the request for a value-oriented MBE is not new for the industry, the complexity of corrugated adhesives prevented many distributors from entering this market. CAI is unique in that they have the experience to meet the service needs of the industry with an MBE certification."

CAI, which was formed by three industry veterans who saw the need for an experienced certified minority presence in the market place, is a service-driven distributor and manufacturer with extensive knowledge of the corrugating and packaging industries. The company offers performance-boosting and cost-effective adhesive materials and additives, as well as process training, equipment troubleshooting, and best practice implementation.

The alliance provides National with another sales channel for corrugated adhesives and additives into the marketplace. The new channel allows National to better find the right fit of product and service options for its customers and also expands the company's goals of increased diversity, social responsibility and market share, according to Kolpa.
