BASF acquisition of Leuna-Miramid completed

The acquisition of Leuna-Miramid GmbH, Leuna, Germany by BASF Aktiengesellschaft was completed November 1, 2005. The regulatory authorities issued their unconditional approval of the transaction.

Leuna-Miramid specializes in the production and compounding of engineering plastics. With this acquisition, BASF further strengthens its leading position in engineering plastics in Europe.

Engineering plastics are used, for example, in automotive construction as well as the electrical and electronics industries. Particularly innovative applications include specific intake manifolds, oil sumps, gear control units, sensors, cylinder head covers, and highly integrated laser-structurable electronic devices.
