Prospector AI Search, now powered by chemical intelligence
Kimia's AI brings natural language search to Prospector's formulators for the first time

UL Solutions has selected Kimia to power intelligent search across Prospector's Personal Care and cosmetics users, changing how formulators worldwide find and evaluate ingredients. The new time-saving intelligent natural language solution was demonstrated live at NYSCC Suppliers' Day on May 19 and 20 at the Javits Center, New York.
Prospector has been the go-to resource for product developers finding raw materials for decades. Now, industry professionals will have extended search capabilities that can offer additional insights, save them valuable time and explore options beyond keywords search and filter navigation. By leveraging some of Kimia's technology alongside the Prospector robust product data, formulators can describe a challenge in plain language (e.g. a mild emulsifier suitable for a baby product suitable for use in the EU, a preservative compatible with a low pH formula).
"Our new Prospector AI Search is a fundamental shift in how material product discovery works, and we believe it sets a new standard for the industry. Formulators have traditionally translated what they've needed into the language a database understands. Now, with the aid of Kimia's technology alongside Prospector’s powerful search engine, that translation step isn’t required. The system understands chemistry, not just keywords, and meets the formulator where they are. Prospector has been the most trusted resource in this industry for a generation. This is what the next generation looks like." - Paul Firth, Director and General Manager, of the Software Solutions group at UL Solutions.
The integration is powered by Concierge, Kimia's AI application for ingredient and chemical manufacturers and distributors, already deployed by global manufacturers including Bostik. Concierge embeds directly into a supplier's own website, putting chemical intelligence in the hands of their customers: understanding what a visitor is looking for, surfacing the right product from the catalogue, and capturing their interest for the commercial team. The Prospector integration is the largest deployment of the technology to date, and demonstrates what chemical intelligence looks like at industry scale.
"Chemical product discovery is moving from filter navigation to intent understanding, and Prospector recognised that shift early. This collaboration matters to us because of what it proves: that AI in this industry only works when the system genuinely understands chemistry. That is what we built Kimia to do, and it is now available for any ingredient or chemical supplier who wants their catalogue to work the same way." - Farid, CEO, Kimia.
