During the Analytica-Anacon 2006, there were approximately 2,592 visitors, 130 exhibitors from 11 countries, and all 3,500 square meters of exhibition space at the Palace Grounds were booked to capacity. The 3rd International Trade Fair and Conference for Analytical Instrumentation, Biotechnology, Laboratory Technology and Services had a record-breaking number of exhibitors (+ 49 percent) - more than 50 percent of whom came from abroad - and exhibition space (+ 75 percent),
and the number to visitors was up by more than 15 percent compared to 2004.
At the fair's opening, Mr. Bandappa Kashampur, the Honorable Minister for Government of Agriculture
in Karnataka, underscored Analytica-Anacon's significance for the Indian analysis and biotechnology market. According to the Minister, in addition to great challenges in the environmental sector, special emphasis will be given to developing the Indian food industry, food safety, consumer protection and biotechnology over the next few years.
According to the organizers, exhibitors were extremely satisfied with fair's results and quality of contacts. Visitor registration for Analytica-Anacon showed that 65 percent of all visitors stated that they were from the field of chemistry and the chemicals industry (25 percent), science/research and scientific institutes (25 percent) or biomedical research (15 percent). Approximately 10 percent of the visitors work in the sector for medical and clinical research, and the same percentage of visitors came from industrial and manufacturing laboratories.
One of the highlights of Analytica-Anacon 2006 was the Analytica-Anacon Conference, which was held at the Palace Grounds at the same time as the fair. More than 425 participants from throughout India followed the lectures of more than 19 prominent scientists, technical experts and researchers. The conference consisted of three full-day sessions and featured information on the latest analysis methods, chromatography, mass spectrometry and molecular and elemental spectroscopy.
The next Analytica-Anacon will be held in Hyderabad from October 31 - November 2, 2007.
