Hikma announces the appointment of Said Darwazah as Chief Executive Officer

The Board of Hikma Pharmaceuticals PLC announced changes to its senior management team. Said Darwazah is appointed as Chief Executive Officer with effect from 1 July 2007. Samih Darwazah, Hikma's current Chairman and Chief Executive Officer will continue in both positions until July, when he will assume the role of Non-Executive Chairman.

Said, 49, was most recently Minister of Health in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, a post which he held from 2003 until 2006. From 1994 until 2003, Said was Chairman and CEO of Hikma Investment Company, then the holding company for the Hikma group. Under his leadership, the Company's facilities in Jordan, the US and Portugal were inspected and approved by the FDA. Said is currently on the Board of Directors of the Central Bank of Jordan and the King Hussein Cancer Institute. He has a degree in industrial engineering from Purdue University in the US and an MBA from INSEAD.
