Sigma-Aldrich Announces Opening of New Sales Office in China

ST. LOUIS, Aug 2, 2002 - Sigma-Aldrich Corporation has announced the opening of its new sales office in Shanghai, China. The new office will help support rapidly growing sales within China, Hong Kong and Taiwan and will focus on providing customer service and technical support for this growing region. "We are very excited about the opportunity of having a strong presence in China. It is a rapidly growing market and the funding for scientific research is extremely strong," said Frank Wicks, President of Sigma-Aldrich's Scientific Research division.
"For over 15 years we have operated in China through local distributors," said Gilles Cottier, Vice President of Sigma-Aldrich's Scientific Research division. "These distributors have done a fine job for Sigma-Aldrich and with the market potential we felt it was time to get even closer to our customers. Through a local office we can better support our distributors as well as the actual researchers using our products."
