Noveon Announces Plans to Expand Production Capacity for Aroma Chemicals

CLEVELAND, Aug. 12, 2002 - Noveon, Inc. announced today that it will begin an expansion project this fall to increase production of aroma chemicals at its manufacturing facility in Kalama, Wash. The initial phase of the expansion is expected to be completed in mid-2003. Noveon currently produces at Kalama a wide range of specialty additives for food, flavors, fragrances and industrial chemicals applications.

In conjunction with plans to increase production capacity at Kalama, Noveon has acquired certain assets, technology and other intellectual property involving aroma chemicals from Firmenich S.A. Terms were not disclosed. Firmenich is a leading supplier and marketer of flavors and fragrances with global headquarters in Geneva, Switzerland.
