New Supervisory Board member for GEA Group
Prof. Werner J. Bauer (60), Executive Vice President and Chief Technology Officer of Nestlé S.A., Switzerland, was appointed to the Supervisory Board of GEA Group Aktiengesellschaft by the Local Court in Düsseldorf on August 4, 2011. He succeeds Dieter Ammer, who resigned from the Supervisory Board for personal reasons as of July 7, 2011. The Court’s appointment of Prof. Bauer to the Supervisory Board as a shareholder representative is limited until the company’s next Annual General Meeting on April 24, 2012.
Prof. Werner J. Bauer has been with Nestlé since 1990 and is currently responsible for Innovation, Technology, and Research and Development. Prior to this, he held a number of positions in the areas of technology, production, environment, and research and development. During this period, he was also Professor of Food Science and Technology at the University of Lausanne. Before 1990, Prof. Bauer was Director of the Fraunhofer Institute for Food Technology & Packaging, Professor of Food Biotechnology at the Technical University of Munich, and Professor of Chemical Engineering at Hamburg University of Technology. In addition to his current position, Prof. Bauer is a long-standing member of a number of supervisory bodies. Among other things, he is a Board member of L’Oréal in France and a member of the Board of Trustees of the Bertelsmann Foundation in Germany.
