Bruker AXS and Nonius plan to merge their Single Crystal Diffraction Activities

03-Apr-2001

On March 27th, 2001, Bruker AXS Inc. (Madison/Wisconsin) and Delft Instruments (Delft, The Netherlands) announced that a letter of intent was signed for the acquisiton of the worldwide Nonius B.V. x-ray diffraction business by Bruker AXS. We expect that the transaction will be closed before the end of April.

The goal of this merger is to combine the strong current elements of both companies, and to establish a framework for further growth, especially in life science related X-ray analysis. In the plan we are discussing, the key elements of the present Bruker AXS and Nonius equipment will form crucial building blocks of the equipment of the future. Of course, we will fully continue the support of both companies‘ product lines. Furthermore, the merger will enhance our resources in R&D and customer support allowing us to accelerate innovation and to further improve our support.

In the longer term "Bruker Nonius" (this will be the brand name for the combined line of products) will establish a full platform of products, using the best elements of both companies. The Bruker Nonius operation in Delft will become the European competence center for single crystal diffraction and will closely collaborate with the Madison and Karlsruhe operations.

We foresee this as good for our current and future customers, and we trust that our many customer relationships will remain as pleasant and constructive as they are now.
