Dynea has inaugurated a new adhesive plant in Surabaya, Pasuruan, Indonesia. The Pasuruan unit is the third new Dynea plant opened in Asia within a year, following the new plants in Shanghai, China and Krabi, Thailand. A fourth plant producing both adhesive resins and paper overlays in Guangdong, China will be ready in November.
The new Dynea unit in Indonesia has a 4,800 tonne production capacity of water and solvent based adhesive products. These are used by a variety of industries, including the woodworking, furniture, packaging and shoe industries. The unit serves as an extension to Dynea Indria's two existing facilities in Jakarta.
"With the new plant we are well placed to meet the growing needs of our customer businesses in Indonesia as well as the future growth prospects of East Indonesia," says Joseph Gunawan, Managing Director for Dynea Indria. "The inaugurated blending and handling facilities will be further upgraded with polymerisation capabilities for water based products in 2004/2005."
Dynea and its predecessor companies have served the Indonesian adhesion and surfacing market since 1975. Today, Dynea's activities in Indonesia comprise of three resin manufacturing units and one overlay manufacturing unit serving the domestic as well as surrounding Asian markets.
In total, Dynea employs some 1,000 people in Asia at its 16 production facilities and some 26 representative offices.
