Emerson celebrates two-year anniversary of PlantWeb® University online educational program
PlantWeb University offers two "schools" of instruction. The Business School focuses on improving plant profitability-how to improve plant efficiency for higher output and lower costs, how to reduce costs and increase availability by streamlining maintenance strategies, and how to improve profitability using the structured metric of overall equipment effectiveness.
The Engineering School explores leading automation technologies such as FOUNDATION fieldbus and HART communication, how they deliver their benefits and practical ways to utilize them in plant operations, and an introduction to other field-level networks such as Profibus PA and Ethernet.
Concise 15-minute courses address each of the areas that affect plant efficiency-quality, throughput, availability, operations and maintenance, safety, health and environment, waste and rework, and utilities. A user-friendly format makes it easy to understand and evaluate new ways to improve project, process and plant performance
More than 70 percent of visitors to the site have rated PlantWeb University as "a highly credible training tool." Bill Hayne of NRS Engineering Ltd. notes, "This course is a must for anyone in the process control arena." Eri Satria of Caltex Pacific Indonesia PT says, "I asked my colleagues to access this valuable site, and all of them agree with me that this is the best free training tool on the web."
