Air Liquide signs a partnership in Qatar

Air Liquide Middle East announced the creation of a new joint venture company in the State of Qatar, together with Qatar Petroleum and Qatar nitrogen Company (a subsidiary of Qatar Petroleum and Qatar Industrial Manufacturing Company). The official signature took place in Doha on the 5th of July under the patronage of His Excellency Abdullah bin Hamad Al-Attiyah, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Energy and Industry.

In this new company called Qatar Industrial Gases, Air Liquide will hold 40% of the capital and Qatar Petroleum and Qatar Nitrogen Company 60%.

The newly created company will first set up new production facilities and pipelines to supply oxygen and nitrogen to the oil & gas, petrochemical and steel industries at the Messaied industrial basin as soon as 2007. In parallel, Qatar Industrial Gases is developing a nitrogen production and distribution system in Ras Laffan Industrial City which is becoming one of the most important LNG (Liquefied Natural Gas), GTL (Gas to Liquid) and petrochemicals sites in the world.
