BASF AG: Website explains future-oriented chemical processes
Visitors who click on "Innovations explained" will discover how successfully chemistry improves the quality of everyday living. With reference to processes developed by BASF, it is demonstrated how chemicals make paper stronger, leather water-repellent or shirts wrinkle-free. In the presentation, full use is made of the capabilities of the Internet: animated graphics underline scientific and technical relationships.
The section headed "Innovations actualized" explains to the Internet surfer the way biodegradable plastics work or how automated test methods for enzymes are run in BASF's robotics laboratory. Vivid animations show the user how Variocrom® pigments for special-effect finishes create different color impressions, depending on the angle from which they are viewed. The Innovation website also provides information on research organizations, the history of BASF research and references to further publications on the topic of innovations. The new site replaces BASF's previous website entitled "Research & Development".
By the way, low-fuel-consumption houses are modernized old buildings in which heating oil consumption is reduced to three liters per square meter per year. This is mainly achieved by optimum heat insulation with BASF materials.
