Plamen Angelov (Dow) new Chairman of the European Chlorinated Solvent Assosiation (ECSA)

Dow Europe chlorinated solvents marketing executive Plamen Angelov has been named chairman of the European Chlorinated Solvent Association (ECSA), which is part of Euro Chlor. Mr. Angelov succeeds Olivier Coûteaux (September 2005-May 2008) and Bruno Van Parys (who was interim Chairman from May to September 2008) both from Solvay.

A Bulgarian national, Mr Angelov joined Dow in 1989. He has worked as sales manager in the plastics division in the Balkan sales Region and various positions in the Dow Europe headquarters in Horgen Switzerland as Marketing Manager for engineering plastics, Marketing Manager for chemicals. Currently he is marketing executive for Chlorinated Solvents, Chlor-Alkali and vinyl acetate monomer (VAM) for Europe and North America. Before working for Dow, he was Import manager at Rumetal in Sofia, Bulgaria importing metals. Mr. Angelov graduated from the Economic University in Sofia in 1986.

Commencing his three-year term in office, Mr Angelov said: "The key priorities for ECSA in the coming three years will be completion of the REACH process and continuing work towards ensuring a sustainable future for the chlorinated solvents industry through our new ECSA Strategy that is in the process of implementation."

Thorsten Schulz (LII Europe) succeeds Plamen Angelov as Chairman of the ECSA REACH Steering Committee. Bruno Van Parys (Solvay) succeeds Thorsten Schulz as Chairman of the ECSA Product Working Group dealing essentially with statistics and trade matters.
