KNAUER Wissenschaftliche Geräte GmbH, based in Berlin, has announced the acquisition of Labomatic AG, located in Möhlin near Basel, Switzerland. With this strategic move, KNAUER significantly expands its leadership in preparative high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) – particularly in systems designed for flow rates of up to 540 liters per hour.
Labomatic has long been a trusted and highly regarded partner to the pharmaceutical industry, well known for its precision-engineered products, excellent service, and Swiss quality standards that inspire confidence worldwide. These strengths will remain unchanged: Labomatic products will continue to be manufactured and distributed under the Labomatic name.
Going forward, KNAUER will handle the distribution of Labomatic products outside of Switzerland. For larger projects, Labomatic AG will continue to provide close support, ensuring customers benefit from the proven expertise and continuity they have come to rely on.
Jan Hirsch, previously Sales Director at Labomatic AG, will become the Managing Director following the acquisition. His leadership will ensure that Labomatic continues its tradition of technical precision, reliability, and customer focus.
Alexandra Knauer, Owner and Managing Director of KNAUER Wissenschaftliche Geräte GmbH, sees this partnership as an important step toward a stronger future: “This collaboration not only strengthens our position in the international HPLC market but also expands our know-how and production capabilities. Together with Labomatic, we are shaping the future of preparative chromatography – powerful, sustainable, and customer-focused,” said Knauer.
The KNAUER Group, which now includes KNAUER Wissenschaftliche Geräte GmbH, ModuVision Technologies, and Labomatic AG, offers one of the most comprehensive portfolios in liquid chromatography worldwide. By combining experience, technology, and customer proximity, the group provides a full range of solutions – from tailor-made laboratory systems to large-scale preparative HPLC plants – serving the life science, pharmaceutical, and chemical industries.
