SUSONITY, a leading company in effect pigments, functional materials, and cosmetic actives, has completed the inauguration of its new Innovation and Application Center (InA) at Industriepark Höchst in Frankfurt. The opening marks one of the most significant milestones since SUSONITY began operating as a standalone business within the GNMI Group in August 2025, and sends a clear signal for Germany as a hub for research and innovation. Industriepark Höchst, home to more than 90 companies and around 20,000 employees, is one of the largest research and production sites for the chemical and pharmaceutical industry in Europe.
Infraserv Managing Director Alexander Wagner, Yiyang Huang, Consul-General of the People’s Republic of China, Dr Carsten Plüg, Head of Innovation and Application at Susonity, and Fangchao Zhou, CEO of Chesir and a member of the GNMI Group’s Executive Board (from left to right), jointly opened Susonity’s new Centre for Innovation and Application at the Höchst Industrial Park.

The InA Center brings together research, product development, and customer support under one roof. Approximately 130 specialists work across four regional centers in Germany, the United States, Japan, and China. The Frankfurt center is the European core of this network. The teams work directly with customers, develop new materials, and bring them into application. The range extends from coatings and paint formulations through cosmetics, personal care, food, and pharma to printing inks, plastics, and high-security applications. For
customers, this means faster access to technical expertise and greater confidence in the development of new products.
The Move to Höchst: A Milestone with History
The relocation of the entire German InA team to Industriepark Höchst is the result of a logistically and technically demanding process that began after the carve-out from the former parent company. Previously, the InA operations in Germany were spread across multiple buildings at the former site in Darmstadt. For the first time in the company's history, all InA colleagues in Germany now work in a single building. Research, application teams for cosmetics and food, for coatings, plastics, and printing, as well as innovation management, are all under one roof. This simplifies knowledge exchange, accelerates decision-making, and noticeably strengthens collaboration.
The move itself was far from straightforward. Highly specialized equipment, including printing machines, plastic extruders, injection molding machines, spray booths, and a surface scanner, had to be transported, reinstalled, and brought back to full operational readiness. Throughout the process, the team continued customer support without interruption. One detail illustrates how precisely the entire operation had to be planned: the surface scanner fit into the elevator of building G875 with just half a centimeter to spare. In total, around 12 containers and more than 400 moving boxes per department were relocated. In selected cases, SUSONITY used the
move as an opportunity to invest in new equipment and infrastructure. As of May 2026, the relocation is complete. All four divisions, Industrials, Research and Development, Cosmetics, and Coatings, have moved into building G875 in the southern part of the 4.6-square-kilometer Industriepark Höchst, each occupying its own floor.
A Long-Term Commitment to Germany
The decision to not only retain the InA Center in Germany, but to consolidate and strengthen it in Frankfurt, is a deliberate statement. The GNMI Group has a clear and long-term interest in anchoring research and innovation expertise in Germany. The Frankfurt center serves not only the German market, but the entire global SUSONITY network. With approximately 80 employees on site, SUSONITY is a significant presence at Industriepark Höchst, demonstrating that internationally oriented high-tech research and Germany as an industrial location are a strong fit.
Carsten Plüg, Head of Innovation and Application, SUSONITY: „With the new InA Center in Frankfurt Höchst, we are bringing our labs, our application expertise, and our research work together in one place. This accelerates collaboration, shortens coordination cycles, and makes it easier for our customers to take their ideas into application faster and with greater confidence. Completing this step is a strong signal, for our team, for this location, and for the long-term innovation work of SUSONITY in Germany.“
Dr. Alexander Wagner, Geschäftsführer Infraserv Höchst: „We are delighted to welcome SUSONITY and its Innovation and Application Center to Industriepark Höchst. Their decision to locate here underscores the site's appeal as one of Europe's leading innovation and chemistry hubs. With our expertise in permitting, planning, and
facility conversion, we are able to create tailored laboratory and research infrastructure that precisely meets our customers' requirements.“
