Eastman Increases Selected List and Off-List Acrylic-Based Coatings Raw Material Prices

KINGSPORT, Tenn. (July 31, 2002) - Eastman Chemical Company today announced an increase in list and off-list pricing on acrylic latex emulsions, styrene acrylic latex emulsions, and solution acrylic resins for the coatings industry. The increases will be effective September 1, 2002 or as contracts allow and will cover the U.S. and Canada.

The company notes the increase is prompted by the escalation of raw material feed stocks as well as by increases in transportation and energy costs. Eastman sales representatives will be contacting their customers directly with the specific amounts and timing by individual product.

In general, the following increases will be in effect:

Acrylamac® solution acrylic resins US$0.03 per pound

Aquamac® latex polymers US$0.03 per pound

Hydreau® latex polymers US$0.03 per pound

Aquamac® latex polymers US$0.03 per pound

Hydreau® latex polymers US$0.03 per pound
