Cremer Oleo: An Investment in the Future

New Production Plants at Prignitzer Chemie in Wittenberge

10-Oct-2012 - Germany

After a three-year conception and construction phase, Prignitzer Chemie celebrated the official start-up of its new ester plant on 25 September 2012. The inauguration represents the crowning point so far of a consistent development that began more than 20 years ago with the establishment of Prignitzer Chemie. After the expansion of the fatty acid distillation with the splitting tower, a worldwide unique production of high-quality MCT oils in highly efficient mono lines was built up in two steps in 2006 and 2010. With an investment of 25 million euros, Prignitzer Chemie is complementing its ester production with three new production lines at once. The heart of the new ester plant is the multi-stage molecular distillation for the production of ultra pure monoglyceride for use in pharmaceutical products, cosmetics and foodstuffs. This will create a large number of jobs in the production area as well as in research and development.

The official start-up was accompanied by Ralf Christoffers, Minister of Economic and European Affairs of the Federal State of Brandenburg, and the Mayor of Wittenberge, Dr. Oliver Hermann.

The esters produced at Prignitzer Chemie are used for diverse purposes, e.g. in sport and energy drinks, calorie-aware nutrition, as conditioning constituents in the cosmetic industry and as ingredients in numerous medicines. Other important product groups serve as emulsifying agents for the production and stabilisation of creams and lotions or aid the formulation of pharmaceutical products.
