MDS Sciex, the analytical instrumentation and technology solutions division of MDS Inc., and Presearch Limited, a leading provider and distributor of advanced instruments and consumables for HPLC and related techniques, announced the signing of a distributorship agreement to deliver the new NanoLC proteomics system in the UK market.
The NanoLC proteomics system was first launched on June 8, 2003 during the American Society of Mass Spectrometry conference in Montreal. The system is based on Eksigent Technologies' Microfluidic Flow Control (MFC) technology, which uses rapid feedback to an electronically controlled pressure source to maintain precise nanoscale flow rates. The NanoLC system does not require flow splitting, as is necessary with currently available technologies for nanoscale chromatography. In addition to being a stand-alone product, the NanoLC system can also be used in LC/MS identification of peptides for proteomics studies. The system provides significant enhancements in detection sensitivity and reproducibility, while simultaneously improving ease of setup, operation, and maintenance. The NanoLC system will include a complete line of instruments and consumables.
"As a leader in HPLC solutions, Presearch has successfully established a remarkable customer base in the UK with strong distribution expertise, excellent technical support and service group," said Murray Wigmore, MDS Sciex Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing.
"MDS Sciex is the global leader in analytical instrumentation with breadth of knowledge and scientific capability," said David Hawkes, Managing Director of Presearch, "Presearch is a respected supplier of advanced instrument and consumables packages to the HPLC market. We are thrilled with the opportunity to bring breakthrough NanoLC technology to the UK proteomics market."
