Major order for AJZ Engineering

Euro 18 millions for modernization of Brazilian Universities and University Clinics

AJZ Engineering GmbH, a joint venture of Analytik Jena AG and Carl Zeiss Jena, obtained the order to implement the project "Modernization of Brazilian Universities".

With a contract value of Euro 18 millions, scientific-technical equipment will be delivered to more than 80 universities all over Brazil. Within the scope of this order, the eye clinics of the federal Brazilian universities will be comprehensively modernized by ophthalmic instruments from Carl Zeiss, and the faculties of chemistry by analytical systems from Analytik Jena AG.

AJZ Engineering GmbH was set up in December 2000 by Carl Zeiss and Analytik Jena combining the business activities of the Project Engineering business of Zeiss Jena and the lab solutions business unit of Analytik Jena in an engineering company being active worldwide.

First deliveries will be effected in September 2001 and extend into calendar year 2002.

The project will be financed in cooperation with the Reconstruction Loan Corporation (Kreditanstalt für Wiederaufbau KfW).

Beside projects in Germany, AJZ Engineering GmbH is particularly active in Latin America, Africa and on the Eastern European markets.
