Grace joint venture receives Dubai environmental award

The manufacturing facility of a W. R. Grace & Co. joint venture located in Dubai has been awarded the Environment, Health and Safety (EHS) Award for 2006 from the Jebel Ali Free Zone Authority (Jafza). Jafza is a major business hub of the Middle East located in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. Jafza houses more than 4,000 businesses from over 100 countries. The Grace joint venture was recognized for the company's contribution to the environmental well being of the area and to the quality of life at one of the world's foremost business centers. Salma Hareb, Chief Executive Officer of Jafza, formally presented the award during a ceremony. The Grace joint venture was one of 41 companies to be recognized for their efforts in the areas of corporate social responsibility and environment, health and safety. Jeff Forgang, Vice President - Environment, Health and Safety for Grace, remarked, "We are pleased to accept this award and acknowledge the efforts of our colleagues in Dubai. As we expand the company's presence in the Middle East, we will continue to have a focus on our responsibilities to EHS and the communities where we operate." Grace currently has over 60 employees in Dubai through the joint venture and has manufactured, marketed, and sold chemical products to the construction industry and to the Middle East region at large since 1982.
