SciQuest Successfully Completes Implementation of Enterprise Reagent Manager to Maximize Research Operations for Eisai Research

Research asset management solution designed to improve Eisai Research Institute's supply chain efficiency

15-Feb-2002

RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK, N.C., Feb 14, 2002 --SciQuest, Inc. a technology and solutions company that provides integrated e-commerce and research asset management solutions for research enterprises and their supply chain partners worldwide, announced today the successful implementation of Enterprise Reagent Manager(TM) (ERM), a research asset management solution at Eisai Research Institute, located in Andover, Massachusetts.

Enterprise Reagent Manager is a chemical requisitioning and inventory management software application used by research scientists, health and safety officers, facilities/stockroom and purchasing/receiving personnel. ERM provides scientists with browser-based capabilities to find, procure and use chemicals, reagents and other research materials they need directly from their desktops. ERM reduces the cost of chemical inventory and automates required regulatory tracking and reporting.

"We chose SciQuest's Enterprise Reagent Manager to enhance the productivity of our researchers by providing the supporting information infrastructure to give them access to and information about materials they need to do research," said Ken Pirro, Director of Engineering and Facilities of Eisai Research Institute. "The SciQuest people did a very good job of dealing with the variables of such a project and the SciQuest implementation methodology helped us drive to our goal.

They were professional and always focused on what we needed to move forward." "SciQuest ERM is a comprehensive and cross functional solution. The deployment of such a system involves many people and processes within the research organization and requires excellent project management and technical skills and methods to achieve a successful implementation," said Susan Butler, Vice President of Global Professional Services for SciQuest. "We are pleased that the combination of adherence to SciQuest's solution methodology and the successful collaboration between the Eisai team and our team of services professionals yielded an on-time, on-budget project completion." "Our relationship with Eisai Research Institute demonstrates our ability to adapt to the diverse and specialized needs of research operations looking for comprehensive asset management solutions," said Jamie Duke, Vice President of Products, Operations and Strategy for SciQuest. "This implementation will enable Eisai to manage the data they need in real time, while focusing valuable time, money and resources on scientific discovery." The need for end-to-end research supply chain solutions has become increasingly important as R&D organizations invest in new technologies to remain competitive in today's market. High-throughput technology has dramatically increased research volumes, generating an unprecedented amount of chemical entities to be managed. Managing this growing volume of chemicals by traditional means has become a great expense to organizations and a burden for researchers, taking away time that could be better spent on research and development. Research asset management solutions like the software developed by SciQuest provide organizations with tools that improve the flow of materials and information, thereby accelerating the research process.
