DECHEMA Research Institute to move at the end of 2025
Decision in favour of Bad Homburg
The DECHEMA Research Institute (DFI) will move its headquarters to Bad Homburg vor der Höhe at the end of 2025. The move is planned for November/December 2025 and represents a significant step for the institute.
The new location in Bad Homburg offers the institute excellent infrastructural conditions for the further development of its research in the fields of materials and corrosion research as well as chemical engineering with a focus on electrochemical processes. The modern building in the industrial estate in the centre of Bad Homburg is ideally equipped as a laboratory building. This will ensure that scientific operations can continue uninterrupted with minimal restrictions, even during the transition phase.
‘We see the move as an investment in the future of our research and the research location of Hesse,’ says Mathias Galetz, Director of the DECHEMA Research Institute. ‘At the new location, we are creating the conditions to decisively develop our work in the field of sustainable material technologies, energy storage and climate-friendly processes - with the aim of continuing to be one of the drivers of innovation in Hesse in the coming decades through networking between industry and research.’
Jonathan Bloh, DFI Executive Board member, emphasises the strategic dimension of the relocation: ‘The new Bad Homburg site strengthens our position as an excellent research partner and attractive employer, and is also attractive for employees due to its proximity to the previous site. For us, this move is a signal that we, as a non-university research institution in Hesse - also thanks to the support of the Hessian Ministry of Economics, Energy, Transport, Housing and Rural Areas - can successfully research the development and application of sustainable technologies such as hydrogen applications and contribute to the decarbonisation of the economy.’
The move to Bad Homburg is expected to be completed by the end of December 2025.
