ATOFINA Optimizes Manufacturing Operation
ATOFINA announces it will shift all production of methane sulfonyl chloride (MSC) to ATOFINA Chemicals' Riverview site in the U.S. and will continue the production of methane sulfonic acid (MSA) in its plants in Mourenx, France and Riverview.
"Due to continued softness in MSC demand worldwide, and our intention to maintain both our leadership position and cost competitiveness, we have decided to optimize our production mix and shift MSC production to our Riverview, Michigan site," said Scott Schwartz, Global General Manager, Sulfonyls and DMSO. "This optimization was made possible through recent investments and process improvements in the Riverview site and the installation of a bulk distribution hub in Rotterdam, The Netherlands, which will serve the needs of our customers in Europe," he said.
"We are poised to serve the global MSC market from our Michigan plant with the highest quality product in the world," said Jeff Snyder, Business Manager, North America. "We will continue to offer MSC in bulk or drum packaging, depending on the preference of our customers."
