About Anton Paar
The company Anton Paar was registered in 1922 by the founder of the same name in Graz (Austria) and has made a name for itself as the world market leader in the measurement of density, concentration and dissolved carbon dioxide as well as in the field of viscosity measurement and rheometry. Anton Paar's customers include the largest producers of beer and soft drinks, companies from the food, chemical, petroleum and pharmaceutical industries as well as leading academic specialist groups. For many decades, Anton Paar has combined precision mechanical production with the latest achievements in research and development. In recent years, up to 20% of Anton Paar GmbH's turnover has been reinvested in research and development.
The company offers a wide range of measuring solutions, which are manufactured at eleven production sites (in Europe and the USA). In addition, there is the soccer simulator skills.lab, in which professional, amateur and youth soccer players can perfect their skills and understanding of the game under real-life conditions. Anton Paar operates in 110 countries with 37 sales subsidiaries.
The company now employs more than 4,400 people in research and development, production, sales and service.
Since 2003, Anton Paar has been owned by the non-profit Santner Private Foundation with an exclusively charitable purpose. The company generated a turnover of 621 million euros in 2023. In addition to its focus on research and development, Anton Paar's growth is based on strategic acquisitions.
In 2007, the company acquired Dr. Kernchen GmbH (Germany, specializing in optical measurement technology, Anton Paar OptoTec), followed by the Petrotest Group (Germany, 2012, specializing in measurement technology for the petroleum industry, Anton Paar ProveTec), CSM Instruments (Switzerland, 2014, specializing in surface testing, Anton Paar TriTec), a product line for Raman spectroscopy from BaySpec Inc. (USA, 2016) and a technology for particle determination using laser diffraction from Cilas (France, 2017). With the acquisition of Quantachrome Instruments (USA, 2018, Anton Paar QuantaTec) and AXO Dresden (Germany, 2019), Anton Paar has expanded its range of measurement technology to include the analysis of pores and porous materials as well as X-ray analysis. With the acquisition of Brabender GmbH & Co. KG (Germany, 2023, Anton Paar TorqueTec), the portfolio was expanded to include special measuring solutions in the field of characterization of kneading properties and laboratory extrusion.
