Great Lakes Announces Flame Retardant Price Increases

INDIANAPOLIS, Indiana – June 5, 2002 – Great Lakes Chemical Corporation today announced that effective July 1, 2002, where

contracts allow, the company will increase the price of Great Lakes BA-59P™ and Great Lakes BC-58™ flame retardants on a worldwide basis. In addition, the off-list price increase previously announced in Europe, the Middle East and Africa for all grades of hexabromocyclododecane (HBCD) flame retardants will now be applied globally, effective June 15, 2002.

The company will increase the price of selected flame retardants as follows:

Effective July 1, 2002 in all regions

Great Lakes BA-59P™ tetrabromobisphenol A … by $0.25/kg

Great Lakes BC-58™ brominated carbonate oligomer … by US$ 0.08/kg (JP¥ 10 / kg)

All other Great Lakes brominated carbonate oligomer grades … by US$ 0.08/kg (JP¥ 10 / kg)

Effective June 15, 2002 in all regions

Great Lakes CD-75™ hexabromocyclododecane (HBCD) … by 10%

Great Lakes CD-75P™ hexabromocyclododecane (HBCD) … by 10%

Great Lakes SP-75™ hexabromocyclododecane (HBCD) … by 10%

All other Great Lakes hexabromocyclododecane (HBCD) … by 10%

All price increases apply to full container or full truck load quantities.
