Aventis implements SciQuest's Enterprise Substance Manager to establish common logistics infrastructure for research facilities

11-Nov-2002

SciQuest, Inc. announced the successful global implementation of Enterprise Substance Manager(TM) (ESM), a fully scalable, enterprise-wide software solution for new drug discovery, compound management, requisitioning and fulfillment processes at R&D sites for Aventis.

Aventis has successfully implemented the tool at its research facilities in Bridgewater, NJ; Tucson, Ariz.; Vitry/Romainville, France and Frankfurt, Germany. The implementation enables the global management of proprietary research compounds while establishing a common logistics infrastructure and processes across all research sites.

SciQuest Enterprise Substance Manager(TM) is a software solution used by research scientists and compound management personnel to manage inventories of proprietary compounds and sample plates that are used in high-throughput screening, genomics and combinatorial chemistry operations. ESM provides real-time access to compound data on a local or global basis, maximizes the potential of expensive and highly sophisticated robotic equipment and ensures that drug candidates are tracked and accounted for as they pass through the drug discovery process.

"Researchers and the unique materials they synthesize, screen and test are two of the most valued assets of a pharmaceutical organization," said Stephen J. Wiehe, president and CEO of SciQuest. "Enterprise Substance Manager will help Aventis maximize researcher productivity while effectively leveraging their growing libraries of promising compounds in their research facilities around the world."
