12-May-2004

Bruker Daltonik GmbH, a subsidiary of Bruker BioSciences Corporation (NASDAQ: BRKR), and VWR International Europe BVBA's Scientific Instruments business unit today announce a co-marketing agreement to jointly market certain VWR HPLC and Bruker Daltonik bench-top mass spectrometers, including software, via their respective distribution channels in Europe.

VWR International will market the Bruker Daltonik esquire4000(TM) LC/MS/MS ion trap mass spectrometer in Europe in combination with its LaChrom Elite(TM) HPLC system. At the same time, Bruker Daltonik will offer the LaChrom Elite in combination with its range of bench-top LC/MS Ion Trap and Time-Of-Flight systems. Using one integrated software platform, the Bruker Daltonik COMPASS(TM) LC/MS software suite will control both the LaChrom Elite HPLC system and the mass spectrometer detector. The combination of both parties' products with their renowned quality and high performance offers powerful LC/MS solutions to customers in the life and chemical sciences.

Bruker Daltonik GmbH's Managing Director, Hans Baum, said: "We are delighted to establish this strong distribution relationship with VWR International. We look forward to providing highly productive bench-top LC/MS systems with accurate mass and MS/MS capabilities to customers in the pharmaceutical, biotech and other industries. With our new unified software environment, COMPASS, the entire LC/MS workflow can be fully automated with a simple method-driven approach."

Patrick Surkyn, Business Director VWR Scientific Instruments, stated: "The strategic relationship with Bruker Daltonik fits perfectly in VWR's partner-strategy and will provide our customers with a complete range of products and services for the HPLC laboratory: Analytical and preparative systems, chromatography data systems (PC workstations as well as network versions), technical, quality and software services, and now also LC-MS systems."
