In response to the high demand for the new ZeonorFilm® (stretched film) and it's use in large LCD televisions, ZEON Corporation began a production capacity expansion at the Takaoka, Japan plant of Optes Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of ZEON Corporation.
This will be the third expansion at the Optes Inc. plant in two years. The expansion represents work that was originally planned for 2007, which has been advanced in response to ZeonorFilm rapidly increased sales volume since early 2005, when the second phase of production capacity expansion was completed. While annual production capacity for base film will be increased to approximately 430 million square feet, the annual production of new ZeonorFilm will be expanded to approximately 322 million square feet. The expansion is already underway and part of the new facilities have already started operations.
