Moroccan company SNEP acquires licence to use Arkema PVC production process
Société Nationale d’Electrolyse et de Pétrochimie (SNEP), part of the Moroccan group YNNA (Chaabi), has chosen Arkema’s manufacturing process for its PVC production plant in Mohammedia, near Casablanca.
“We have opted for Arkema’s process on the basis of this company’s long-standing experience in PVC production and the reputation of its exclusive technology which guarantees a modern and competitive production tool, capable of producing every standard PVC grade with a constant quality “, declares Mohammed Regba, SNEP’s CEO.
“The licensing agreement reached with SNEP underlines the unique benefits of Arkema’s PVC suspension process which make it one of the world’s most effective PVC technologies suitable for use under licence “, explains Otto Takken, Vice President of Arkema’s Vinyl Products business segment.
The Mohammedia industrial site produces chlorine, caustic soda and vinyl chloride monomer. The PVC plant using the Arkema process, scheduled to come on stream at the end of 2010, will have a 150,000 ton annual production capacity essentially earmarked for the Moroccan pipe, profile and cable market.
This licensing agreement includes the use of the Arkema technology, the basic engineering, and the technical support for the plant’s startup.
