Oxea awarded ISO 50001 energy management certification

22-Mar-2012 - Germany

OXEA, the international chemical company, announced that it is one of the first in its sector to have received certification from KPMG Cert for its energy management system in accordance with the new international standard ISO 50001. Oxea's energy management system helps the company to conduct its business more sustainably, to continue reducing its energy consumption, and to employ its resources more efficiently. Although the certification applies initially to the Oberhausen site, the other Oxea production sites in Europe have already been included and can be certified during the next audit. The new ISO 50001 standard goes beyond the requirements of its predecessor, DIN EN 16001, and will replace it toward the end of April 2012.

"At Oxea we incorporated an efficient energy management system in our Integrated Management System (IMS) from the very beginning. This enabled us to begin the certification process early," said Dr. Günther Becker, Director Quality Management at Oxea. Working closely with the highly motivated teams in our manufacturing and technology units, we prepared ourselves thoroughly for the certification by carrying out internal audits. This successful outcome is our reward for all the work we have put in over the past six months”, he added.
